5 Mindset shifts to Finding Purpose in the mundane

Does life feel like a series of days on repeat, just going through the motions? Do you feel like you are tired of your life sometimes and feeling the inner nudge that you want to feel more purpose, have more impact, just feel more ALIVE? Do you feel like You know deep down that you are “here for a reason” but you feel a bit lost and weary with just getting your home, kids taken care of, spend time with your husband, and let’s not mention your job. Have you ever thought “What is even my purpose in life? Is is simply to Raise kids and do laundry and work and feel tired all the time? I do not say “raise kids” lightly, but the reality is us moms know the deep time , physical and emotional investments it takes to raise children and occasionally we can feel lost in the shuffle, in the chaos, dreaming for feeling like our mothering work has meaning.

Purpose is a loaded word. In todays culture, so often we feel like possibly someone else has more “purpose” because of the type of job or business they have, the roles they do, the number of kids they have, their outer actions and activities they do or post on social media. We can definitely get sucked into a place of -even slight- jealous comparisonitis and feel like somehow we are lacking or less worthy than others.

Here are 5 Mindset Shifts to ponder in your heart, my friend, for those of you fellow moms who feel less than thrilled with your current life situation:

-Mindset Shift #1: You already have ALLLLLL the purpose you can ever have. Your worth does not rely on anything external of you. Once you realize you don’t have any more purpose or worth depending on your works.

-Mindset Shift #2: God DOES have you here and this time in the world because of HIS divine plan, that He wants you realize. Of course, God placed us here on this time and age with no accident, and that He does have meaningful work for us to do, and has given us ALL special gifts and we ARE here to serve, we do start to feel more energized. You, are fearfully and wonderfully made, dear friend, and it’s time to start living like it.

-Mindset Shift #3: By showing up everyday, serving our families and our jobs IS PART OF OUR PURPOSE! You are currently living in your purpose right now, no need to feel like you are somehow wasting your life by serving your family, sowing up for your job and being the wife to your husband!

-Mindset Shift #4: What are you telling yourself? By thinking thoughts like “ugh, do I have to do this again” or “I wish I didn’t have to go to work” or “when am I going to have some time for myself to do the things I want to do?!” ohhhhh man, I have

-Mindset Shift #5: Have a grateful heart. I said it. I know we are inundated with the “just be grateful” and “keep a gratitude journal” messaging and yes, they are uplifting and amazing things to do that will nearly instantly start to shift our thoughts, feelings and attitudes! When we turn our energy to thankfulness in all that God has provided to us, our mundane can become extraordinary. The energy of gratitude surely will spill over and help up have a fuller appreciation and deeper joy in all that we already have in our life, all that currently is, and revive our energy for taking even micro actions for things that light us up, even like having energy to clean up the kitchen and make our immediate surroundings more pleasant and calm.

Your Purpose is not found in titles, degrees, education and Job descriptions… it’s found in your heart. What lights you up? It’s. It not necessarily found in doing the “socially acceptable “ things you think you need to do … it’s about Doing Little things well, with great love. It’s about courage and faith and trust and action. Its about listening to yourself and God speak to you through your heart and intuition… it’s about daring greatly… it’s about doing that which inspires you, lights you up, and that is what the world needs … more people who are lit up.
